The best way to avoid and prevent the flu is by frequent and regular hand washing. Crazy simple, a study on infectious disease done in Pakistan demonstrated 50% reduction just by good hand washing. If you want to know all about, I have put the reference to the actual study below.2
What I love most is the most powerful tool to prevent cold & flu? It is literally in your hands and super cheap and easy. Is it shocking to you that hygiene is the best prevention?
Here are 4 other tips regarding prevention:
- Reduce Stress – it depresses the immune system. Exercise.
- Avoid Sugar & Carbs – it shuts the immune system down,
- Eat a Clove of Garlic a day – great antimicrobial food.
- Contrast showers in the morning – 1 minute hot, 30 seconds cold. Repeat 3 times, ending with cold. Boost your immune.
Personally, at the first sign of any cold or flu symptoms I will take 3-5 g of Vitamin C a day and add in a herbal tincture called Deep Immune, which is a blend that supports your immune system. Typically I don’t’ get sick and if I do, its really mild and last only a few days. I try to drink plenty of water, do the odd steam inhalation (for congestion and sore throats) and get plenty of rest. Sleep is by far the best healing tool we have.
